Request For Quote Transition To IATF 16949:2016 The IATF is a quality control group consisting of manufacturers and trade groups associated with the automotive industry. The purpose of the IATF is to control the quality of products within the automotive industry on behalf of their customers.

Previously, the standard was called ISO/TS 16949. The 2016 publication however, was developed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and approved by the ISO, leading to the new revision being called IATF 16949 instead. Coupled with applicable customer-specific requirements, this IATF 16949 outlines the quality management system requirements for organizations working in automotive production, service and/or accessory parts of the automotive industry.

IATF 16949 specifically addresses the following aspects of quality management systems in the automotive industry:
1) Process efficiency and effectiveness
2) Customer satisfaction
3) Continual improvement
4) Defect prevention
5) Supply chain optimization
6) Specific requirements and tools for the automotive industry

Some of the key changes to IATF 16949 include :

1) Altered formatting using an Annex SL model with a 10-clause structure, the same structure used when developing ISO 9001:2015.
2) Incorporation of some of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Customer Specific Requirements (CSRs) to reduce the complexity and number of CSRs for suppliers to implement, and for certification bodies (CB) to audit
3) More comprehensive approaches to external processes, products and services
4) Increased focuses on interested parties, stakeholders and company performance
5) Expanded focus on risk-based thinking and risk mitigation
6) Clarification of organizational concepts like organizational context and knowledge
7) Enhancement of product traceability requirements
8) Inclusion of requirements for products with embedded software
9) Inclusion of a warranty management process addressing No Trouble Found (NTF) and the use of automotive industry guidance
10) Clarification of sub-tier supplier management and development requirements
11) Addition of corporate responsibility requirements
