Course Outline:
This unit of competency specifies the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of a WSH Coordinator or Supervisor to identify WSH hazards, unsafe work conditions/practices, and recommend reasonable practical control measures at the workplace for a number of key industries including construction, manufacturing, marine, petrochemical and services.

Course Content:

  • Identify WSH hazards including unsafe work conditions and practices at the workplace
  • Evaluate the risk level of the hazards identified
  • Recommend and implement WSH control measures in accordance to the organisational Risk Management Plan
  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of the implemented control Measures
  • Identify gaps in the existing control measures and report to management for appropriate corrective actions and preventive actions

Mandatory Requirements

  • ES Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 5 or GCE “N” Level English grade 5 & Mathematics grade 5; AND
  • Possess WSH Skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Certificate in WSH; AND
  • Have at least 1 year of WSH relevant working experience; AND
  • Completed 2 Pre-Requisite Modules, with 1 module coming from Group 1 (Industry Modules) and 1 module coming from Group 2 (Soft Skills)

Certificate in one of the following Supervisory Level WSH Courses (Module Group 1):

  1. Workplace Safety and Health Management in Manufacturing Industry
  2. Workplace Safety and Health Management in Chemical, Process, Pharmaceutical Industries and Laboratories
  3. Workplace Safety and Health Supervision in Tunnelling Construction
  4. Workplace Safety and Health Management in Construction Industry
  5. Workplace Safety and Health Management in Marine Industry
  6. Workplace Safety and Health Management in Service Industry

AND

Certificate in one of the following ES Soft Skills Courses (Module Group 2):

  1. Innovation Management
  2. Problem Identification
  3. Team Effectiveness Management
