Course Objectives

This unit of competency specifies the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of a WSH representative to identify key legal and other requirements relating to the duties and responsibilities of stakeholders, monitor legal compliance and report incidents as well as non-compliance issues according to organisational SOP.

  • Competency Unit Overview
  • WSH legal and other requirements
  • Explain the various Stakeholders under WSH legal and other requirements
  • WSH responsibilities and duties of stakeholders
  • Personnel from whom advice is sought on WSH legal and other requirements
  • Penalties for non-compliance with legal requirements
  • Types of reportable incidents
  • Explain the definition of incidents
  • Explain the Notification of incident/near-missed record and non-compliance with examples of a scenario
  • Report incident and non-compliance to appropriate persons
  • Explain various ways of Reporting of non-compliance
  • Explain the Process of WSH incident/ accident investigation
  • Conclude the training with key learning points

Mandatory Requirements

  • Be able to listen, read, speak and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills (ES) Level 4
  • Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills (ES) Level 4
  • Preferably hold a WSH related appointment
  • Completed 1 Pre-Requisite Module

1. Apply teamwork in the workplace (WPH-PIW-1101-1.1) OR
2. Continuous Process Improvement (PRE-PIN-2006-1.1 ) OR
3. Problem Identification (RET-ACE-2006-1.1)

Assumed Skills & Knowledge

  • Possess WSH skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Certificate in WSH
  • 1 Year of relevant Working experience in Workplace safety and health
