Course Objective

  • Enable practitioners to develop, validate and communicate their competence in a systematic manner
  • Make it easier for organisations to identify credible assurance expertise in individuals
  • Improve confidence for those seeking assurance in the expertise of professionals engaged to assess and pass judgement on their behalf
  • Develop a more systematic understanding of key competencies for providing effective assurance, and so establish a basis for informing future development of AA1000 and other standards.

Course Content

  • Module A — Stakeholder Engagement Practitioner Certificate: Practitioner Certificate, a certificate course, and entry-point to the AA1000 training series which covers the AA1000AP (2018) and AA1000SES (2015).
  • Module B — Sustainability Practitioner (SP) Certificate: A practitioner-level course on the application and reporting of each AccountAbility Principle. This course, when taken with Module A, awards participants the distinction of Sustainability Practitioner.
  • Module C — Associate Certified Sustainability Assurance Practitioner (ACSAP) Certificate: A practitioner-level course covering foundational sustainability assurance knowledge using the AA1000AS v3. This course, when completed with Modules A and B, earns the participant the Associate Certified Sustainability Assurance Practitioner (ACSAP) qualification and contributes toward a practitioner’s learning journey to achieve higher qualifications such as the Practicing Certified Sustainability Assurance Practitioner (PCSAP) and Lead CSAP Practitioner (LCSAP) designation.

Mode of Assessment

  • Short Answer Questions, True/False Questions, and Single Choice Questions

Pass Criteria

  • Successful completion of the 3- module licensed AA1000 training programme, and pass the final assessment, automatically meets the requirement for the Associate Certified Sustainability Assurance Practitioner (ACSAP) level.

Target Audience

  • Professionals seeking formal qualification in sustainability assurance.
  • Individuals or consultants involved in sustainability reporting, assurance, stakeholder engagement, or ESG compliance.
  • The eligibility criteria for attending AA1000 training in the second half of 2025 will become increasingly stringent, such as at least a university degree or 8 years of work experience.
